Connie Cody — Member of Parliament for Cambridge & North Dumfries

One Year Later…My Promise to Cambridge and North Dumfries Still Stands!

Almost one year ago, tens of thousands of voters in Cambridge and North Dumfries placed their faith and trust in me to serve as their Member of Parliament. It is an honour and responsibility that I do not take lightly. Our neighbours cast their votes based on a set of values and convictions that I shared on countless front doorsteps, through many conversations, and at events across our community. I ran on a promise to protect Canadian sovereignty, defend rights, freedoms, and restore the belief that this country can still be a place where anyone who works hard can get ahead. One year later, those values and convictions have not changed. Growing up in small town Galt, I learned that your word is your bond and that others’ trust is not a commodity to be bought and sold. Unlike some politicians who only care about chasing power and headlines, I care about something bigger: remaining true to my word and the solemn commitments I made to you. Polls may fluctuate and the challenges we face may seem daunting, but adversity will never stop me from fighting for what’s right, and fiercely defending the values I care deeply about. Today, tomorrow, and every day that I have the privilege of serving everyone in our community, rest assured that I will proudly do so as your Conservative Member of Parliament.

MP Connie Cody Reacts to Federal Budget

MP Connie Cody Reacts to Federal Budget November 5, 2025 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Connie Cody, Member of Parliament for Cambridge, released the following statement after the tabling of the 2025-2026 federal budget in Ottawa: “The Prime Minister promised just a few months ago that he would spend less – but now he’s adding $90 billion in new, inflationary spending. That’s over $5,000 for every household in Canada. “Mark Carney said he’d reduce the deficit, but it’s going up to $78 billion – nearly twice the size of the one Justin Trudeau ran. And, he said he’d lower our debt, but it’s going to grow by $10 million every hour. “Next year, Canada will spend more money paying down the interest on our debt than we will on federal health transfers, and more than it collects in GST revenue. “Every dollar that the Prime Minister spends is a dollar that comes out of the pockets of the hardworking people here in Cambridge and North Dumfries. Higher government spending means higher taxes, inflation, and debt for people in our community who are already stretched to the limit. Food bank use is at record highs, and I hear from people every day who can’t afford the basics like groceries and medicine. “I cannot support a budget that will make life more expensive for people in Cambridge and North Dumfries while saddling the next generation with unsustainable debt. Our community – and all Canadians – deserve better than that.

Working Together for Women: Visit to the YWCA

I’d like to say a big thank-you to the YWCA for welcoming me to their facility right here in Cambridge. They do fantastic work year-round to support women in our community and have launched many exciting initiatives. As a member of the House Status of Women Committee, I’m looking forward to working with them to enact policies that make our community safer and more empowering for all women and girls.
